Apprenticeship starts were down 31 per cent in January compared with the same period in 2017, the latest provisional government statistics have revealed. The figures, which show monthly data from August 2017 to January 2018 how that 44% of starts for that period were at Intermediate Level, 45% at Advanced Level and 11% at Higher Level. 35% of starts were aged under 19, 30% were aged 19-24 and 35% aged 25+. 45% of starts were levy supported and 38% were on the new standards.
