The SCTP Team

SCTP is run by a Board of five directors elected from the membership led by a Chair, supported by an Executive Director, a Marketing & Office Executive and a Lead Project Consultant.

Paul Mitchell, Executive Director, responsible for operational delivery in line with the business plan.

Paul has extensive experience in vocational education in further and higher education organisations as well as in schools. He has been involved in the SCTP since its inception, initially as the MD of a private training provider in Sussex, and then as Enterprise Director of a large college. As a freelance skills consultant, he worked on developing the SCTP and a number of our projects before becoming Executive Director in 2008. 

Sarah SawyerMarketing and Office Executive, supporting the Executive Director with operational delivery, focusing on communications, administration and event organisation. 

Sarah has been in the education sector for many years, working for both the Learning and Skills Council and the Skills Funding Agency/National Apprenticeship Service. She also works as a facilitator for Apprenticeships in Sussex, representing our members’ interests in local schools and colleges, promoting apprenticeship, traineeship and pre-employment opportunities and inspiring and informing young people about their next steps.

Richard Freeman, Lead Project Consultant, responsible for seeking and delivering relevant projects.

Richard has a good knowledge of education funding, national Apprenticeship and Traineeship strategy and the wider vocational learning sector.  Before joining SCTP, Richard designed and shaped alternative KS4, study programmes and Apprenticeships as a senior manager with Dv8 Sussex and has raised funds and managed numerous learning-related projects in the South East.
