Education Secretary Social Mobility Speech And Plan

Education Secretary, Justine Greening has unveiled the Government’s plan to provide opportunities on every young person’s doorstep in a speech at the inaugural Reform social mobility conference. While many members will find the goals of the plan worthy it could be said that recent reforms that focus on Level 3 provision (T Levels and a lack of apprenticeship standards at Level 2) are not consistent with this objective and the creation of a ladder of opportunity that provides a point of entry that matches every person’s starting point. Responses from sector leaders and a summary of the plan are here.
