Ofsted’s Chief Inspector Amanda Spielman launched Ofsted’s Annual Report, discussing the quality of education and training in England, and stating that the great majority of schools and colleges are good or outstanding. Her full speech can be read here. The Annual Report examines the quality of schools, early years, further education and skills and children’s social care for the academic year 2018 to 2019. Further statistics and data can be seen here. Comment on the report can be read here. In the report, Ofsted states there is a “mismatch in provision” which needs addressing, and that “the apprenticeship funding system needs to target levy money more directly at skills shortages.” Sector comment on some of these issues raised in the Ofsted report can be read here.
