AELP has called on the Department for Education and the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education to investigate whether there is an element of sexual discrimination involved in the funding of apprenticeship standards, pointing to the fact that on average, male-dominated sectors are getting more funding compared with the sectors where the majority of starts are female.
