Levy Funding for Degree Apprenticeships Under Debate

by | 0 comments

The Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP) have called for no apprenticeship levy funding to be available for level 6 and 7 apprenticeships, with the funding coming instead from the employer and/or the apprentice via a student loan along with any government grant made available to full-time HE students. AELP state that they are an enthusiastic supporter of degree apprenticeships and believe that the appeal of degree apprenticeships will not diminish if a change is made. AELP’s statement can be read here. This proposal forms part of a wider submission to the DfE called ‘A Sustainable Future Apprenticeship Funding Model‘ which also calls for full funding by government of level 2 and 3 apprenticeships.  Comments on this submission can be read here.
