The DfE has published their latest apprenticeships and traineeships statistical release, covering August to October 2018. It shows that there have been 132,000 apprenticeship starts reported to date in the first quarter of the 2018/19 academic year, an increase of 15% from the same period in 2017/18. It represents a decrease of 15% and 13% compared to the same period in 2016/17 and 2015/16, before the apprenticeship levy was introduced. The statistics also show a drop in starts at both level 2 and for those aged 16 to 18, which both fell year-on-year by 2%. Click here for more detail, and here for sector comments.

The statistics also show that management standards continue to be the most popular with the team leader/supervisor having the most starts of any standard in the first quarter of the 2018/19 year. More on this here.
