The Department for Education published a set of proposals in March 2019 on the collection of data on the FE workforce in England. They held a consultation ending in June 2019 on these proposals and they have now published the government’s response to the consultation, which sets out the direction of travel for FE workforce data collection; what is required for implementation; and how the government will work with the sector to take this work forward. This article comments on the consultation response which will mandate data returns from providers from 2021/22 academic year.
