The Department for Education has published its statutory guidance for schools on relationships education, relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education. The new curriculum will be mandatory from September 2020, and schools are encouraged to adopt the new curriculum early from September 2019. Education Secretary, Damian Hinds has committed to convening an expert group to support the effective implementation of these new subjects in schools. Stonewall and the teaching union NAHT have welcomed the guidance, with Stonewall commenting that it is a ‘real, positive step forward for LGBT inclusion in England’s schools’.
