There is a consultation running at present in relation to the Lead Adult Care Worker (level 3) standard. This Standard has come under scrutiny from some employers/providers recently, concerned that it lacks insufficient specialist competency opportunities. The Level 3 is due for a review and the trailblazer group are asking the IfATE to consider amending this standard to become a “Senior Specialist Support Worker” which will contain a core and options. The proposed options are Learning Disability & Autism, Dementia, Mental Health, End of Life Care and Children & Young People. The consultation closes on 10 November. It is on the consultation list as Senior (Specialist) Support Worker.
