The government is being called upon by sector bodies to fund 16-18 year old apprentices through general taxation rather than the apprenticeship levy, in the same way that A Levels, T Levels and applied general provision are for 16-18 year olds. The University Vocational Awards Council (UVAC), the Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP) and the Association of Colleges (AoC) all agree that the apprenticeship levy should not be used to subsidise this age group.
