It has been reported that Baroness Alison Wolf is set to become a skills and workforce policy adviser to the Prime Minister. Her report on 14 to 19 vocational education in 2011 made the case for an employer levy to fund apprenticeship training. She was also a member of the Augar Review on Post-18 education and funding last year. More about her work and background are in this article, and speculation that she may influence the government to extend the levy to smaller employers is here.
