The government has published a prospectus outlining Wave Two of the Institutes of Technology (IoT) programme. IoTs are collaborations between employers, FE colleges and universities. The prospectus sets out information for potential bidders about the IoT Programme, how to express an interest in applying, and their expectations about what good proposals would look like. The government believes that the IoTs will play a key role in delivering an improved higher technical education system. The Wave two competition, which will launch shortly, will select eight new IoTs, to go alongside the 12 announced in April 2019. The competition will only be open to proposals that cover Local Enterprise Partnership areas that currently do not have an IoT, including the South East LEP and Coast to Capital LEP areas. More background on the announcement is here.
