The Department for Education has announced that schools and colleges rated as outstanding by Ofsted will no longer be exempt from routine inspection. The proposals in the consultation prioritises those institutions that have gone the longest without inspection. Ofsted is preparing so that it is ready to inspect from September 2020. Ofsted has launched a consultation, seeking views on the removal of the exemption for outstanding schools, colleges and other organisations delivering publicly funded education and training. The consultation closes on 24 February 2020.
