The Department for Education were the subject of a Freedom of Information request, asking how much they had paid towards the apprenticeship levy, how much it has used of its levy and how many apprentices the DfE has recruited in the period since the levy introduction. Their response can be seen here.

Following the publication of the FOI response, the DfE has revealed that it is one of the top apprentice employers across government, recruiting 354 apprentices since April 2017, exceeding their public sector apprenticeship target.
