The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has published its progress report into the apprenticeship reforms that were introduced in April 2017. The report gives six conclusions and recommendations for the Department for Education (DfE) including assessing whether there are enough Level 2 standards, asking how the DfE will ensure that smaller employers can benefit fully from the programme and asking what the ESFA and Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education will do to streamline and strengthen quality assurance arrangements in order to give greater confidence that end-point assessments are robust, fair and consistent. A summary of the recommendations can be seen in this article and comments from the PAC chair can be read here, with further comments here.
